Just who is it that makes up the Frank Paul Experience?

Frank Paul
Lead Vocals & Guitar (Frank Paul Band, Young Johnny, Gone 2 Paradise)

Beginning his professional career at the age of 15 as a lead singer, guitarist and drummer, Frank has already spent many successful years achieving his goals performing music, acting and dancing in the entertainment industry. This seasoned touring artist and dynamic front man has appeared on national television along with performances at U.S. Cellular Field and Navy Pier in Chicago. He has also shared stages with many well-known musical acts. His original music has been featured on many radio stations across the United States.


Darren Scorza
Drums (Frank Paul Band, Young Johnny, Gone 2 Paradise)

Darren began undergraduate studies at Eastern Illinois University in 1989. There he studied percussion with Johnny Lee Lane, and Jazz with Henry Butler. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music in 1993. Since returning home to Chicago in 1994, Darren has worked as a freelance musician and private percussion instructor. He has had the pleasure of performing with many jazz artists, including Bobby Enriquez, Richie Cole, Kevin Gainer, & Kevin Cole. He spent two years as the house drummer at Chicago’s famed Pump Room with Singer Jim Rollins. He has also recorded with many local artists including Michele Thomas, Ted Hogarth, Ari Seder, and Hard Art Groop. Darren also has led the Big Joe’s Sunday Night Jazz Jam for three years.

Danny Lopatka
Bass Guitar & Vocals (Frank Paul Band, Young Johnny)

Danny plays both the electric and upright basses in The Chicago Jazz Collective. He currently goes in school at the University of Illinois at Chicago and is studying Jazz Performance.

Sam Smiley
Lead Guitar & Vocals (Frank Paul Band, Young Johnny, Gone 2 Paradise)

Sam has spent the past several years as an active performer on the Chicago music scene. He has performed many different styles including jazz, rock, and country. He performs and records regularly with Chicago singer-songwriter Todd Kessler, with whom he has had the opportunity to play some of the best Chicago rock clubs including Schubas, Double Door, and Millenium Park. He has also spent time performing throughout the country and world with other rock bands and world music groups, including a tour of eastern Europe. He is currently finishing a master's degree studying with guitarist Fareed Haque. Sam has taught private, group, and rock band lessons for over ten years. He has also taught at DayJams rock band camp.

Bob Parlier
Steel Drums/Hand Percussion (Gone 2 Paradise)

A professional drummer who is experienced in both performance and education. He began his education in percussion at Columbia College in Chicago and finished at the School for Music Vocations Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa.

Don Kovach
Bass Guitar/Vocals (Gone 2 Paradise)

Experienced music educator in classroom music and private lessons. Seasoned performer on bass guitar and double bass in a variety of settings including rock, country, reggae, and blues. Student conductor of Wind Ensemble and chamber ensemble, Attended Educational Experiences in Jamaica in 2006 and 2007, MENC executive board in 2006 and Treaurer in 2007, Phi Mu Alpha Music Fraternity President in 2007. Graduated in February 2008 with a 3.45 and 3.7 in Music Courses earning membership in Lambda Sigma Psi Music Honor Society.

Andrew Zallar
Keyboards (Gone 2 Paradise)
"Moving to Chicago in 2005, multi-instrumentalist Andrew has been teaching and playing around town ever since. Officially joining the band in 2010 on keyboards, Andrew's addition has kept Gone 2 Paradise's sound true and authentic to Jimmy Buffett.
